Just look at this little screech owl. Do you really want to hurt him? Do you really want to make him cry?

I love it when I hop in the car to go on a rescue or release and the song on the radio is playing like the soundtrack in a Disney movie. “Fly Like An Eagle” by Steve Miller Band is always a good one when releasing a raptor, or any bird for that matter. This time of year we see American robins that have gotten drunk on fermenting Brazilian pepper tree berries. It’s nice to hear Silver Convention’s “Fly Robin Fly” when the bird’s hangover has subsided. (Not that I listen to disco music now, nor have I ever in the past, but if you have ever heard that song, it’s hard not to remember the total of six words in the entire lyrics that seem to drone on and on forever.)

Of course, it’s not all birds and mice sewing me a prom gown to the tune of “Whistle While You Work.”
