Irene Lydia Beyer-Delawter of Venice, died on Saturday, March 2, 2013, at HarborChase Assisted Living Facility after a brief illness.
She was born April 8, 1926, in Wayland, Mich., to Ada and Charlie Towne of Wayland, Mich. In 1943, Irene excelled as a nursing student at St. Mary’s School of Nursing, and after becoming a professional registered nurse, she served as a cadet nurse during World War II. Irene went on to various capacities as a registered nurse, from pediatrics to geriatrics. Irene, working as a nurse, retired from the state of Michigan in 1991.
Irene moved to Venice in 1993, where she enjoyed travel, gardening, singing, playing the keyboard, cooking and baking.
Irene was a member of Venice-Nokomis United Methodist Church.
Irene is survived by her husband, John; and her daughters, Kathy and her husband, Jim, and their children, Andrew, Merry and Rick (Wilbert), and Karen and her husband, Dan, and their daughter, Morgan.
Irene was preceded in death by her first husband, Gus Beyer, of Ionia, Mich.
Services: A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 7, at Venice-Nokomis United Methodist Church.
