Robert A. Billa Sr., 88, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 23. 2013. Robert was born April 16, 1924, in Jamestown, N.Y.

Robert served in the U.S. military from Nov. 1, 1942, through May 1, 1947.

He loved his work with the Sarasota County Parks and Recreation Department and the people he worked with there, as he maintained the ballfields at the Wellfield and Chuck Reiter for 19 years.

He enjoyed bowling and playing poker with his family and friends.

Robert is survived by his wife, Jean; brother, Hank; and sisters, Helen and Judy. He also leaves all his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
