Jean L. Squeo, 82, of Venice, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013.

She was born in Bridgeport, Conn., Nov. 26, 1930, and came to Venice 43 years ago. Jean attended Bassick High School and was a supervisor with Southern New England Telephone Company.

She was a pianist and the hand-bell choir director with Venice Bible Church for 20 years and was also a pianist with First Baptist Church for 15 years. Jean was a loving and caring mother and wife. She was also a longtime volunteer at St. Mark’s Thrift Shop in Venice.

Survivors include her son, Paul Squeo of Venice; daughters, Holly Courtney of Prescott, Ariz., and Bonny Jarret of Nokomis; sister, Caroline Hogberg of Venice; granddaughter, Ally Squeo of Venice,; step-grandchildren, Joshua and Lindsay Courtney; and her dog, Noel.

Jean was predeceased by her husband, Ben.

Services: A private family graveside service will be held at Gulf Pines Memorial Park. Farley Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
