All interpersonal relationships get out of whack from time to time. It’s true of couples, governments, nations. Even the best of relationships may drift without proper attention, and they may need to be nurtured and nudged back on track.

The Sarasota County Commission and Venice City Council met to discuss a number of specific intergovernmental questions Tuesday, but the underlying issue was the ill will that had been festering in recent months. Bruised feelings needed airing. The boards needed a little group therapy. It was necessary, and from all appearances, it seemed to work.
