Bobcats rally late to get past Cougars
SARASOTA — North Port High School comfortably won its first game against Cardinal Mooney this season, but it needed a pair of runs in the top of the seventh to win 6-4 in Friday afternoon’s meeting.
With the game tied at 4, Brian McAlpine led off the seventh inning with a bunt-single and stole second. Michael Brown was intentionally walked to bring up Travis Glenney, who bunted to Cougars pitcher Bucky Bonynge. In his attempt to get the lead runner out, Bonynge overthrew the third baseman and the two go-ahead runs scored for the Bobcats.
