SARASOTA COUNTY — The county will play host to a pair of public meetings tonight and next week that could lead to wholesale changes in its Sarasota 2050 Plan, aimed at allowing additional residential development near Interstate 75 over the next 50 years.

“It’s going to be an open-house meeting with a couple of theme-focused tables with county staff,” county Planning Manager Allen Parsons said. “There will be tables relating to environmental open-space issues, design-related issues and fiscal neutrality.”
