Plan emerges to buy out airport obligations
Creative financing may get the city of Venice out of a financial pickle, keep itself in the good graces of the Federal Aviation Administration, and avoid a potentially expensive lawsuit.
City leaders on Tuesday announced taxpayer money from the city’s Utilities Enterprise Fund will be used to purchase Federal Aviation Administration “obligations” valued at more than $2 million on two high end properties — Sharky’s Restaurant and The Senior Friendship Centers — ending a longstanding dispute with the FAA.
