Rosemary Lutz Farley, who died Wednesday at home in Venice, was as stunning as she was bright.

In 1939, she graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in political science. While pursuing her master’s degree at New York University, she signed a modeling contract with the famed John Robert Powers Agency, then met and married Walter Farley.
