Police: Panhandling
enforcement to stay the same
SARASOTA COUNTY — As Sarasota County attempts to tighten its ordinance on panhandling on county roads, county and North Port law enforcement officials say they will enforce the new ordinance in the same way they have over the years.
“As with all county ordinances, we will enforce it as it’s written,” said Sarasota County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Wendy Rose. “It probably won’t be a drastic change for us and we will continue enforcing as we have. There’s not a lot of cause for arrests. People are pretty reasonable, so we don’t expect any major changes. ”
