Scholarship briefs

Mike Fiore, a former bass player with Venice Symphony, donated a new scholarship to Venice Musicale to send one or possibly two high school students specializing in strings or voice to summer music camp. The scholarship will pay full tuition for a summer program at Florida State University in Tallahassee, University of Florida in Jacksonville or University of Tampa in Tampa. Apply to Venice Musicale by March 16. Auditions will take place April 6 at Venice Public Library, 300 S. Nokomis Ave., Venice. Applications are available from Scholarship Chair Leie Carmody, leiec@comcast.net or at VeniceMusicale.org.

Students who want to apply for a Gulf Coast Community Foundation scholarship for the 2013-14 academic year must apply by Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at 4 p.m. Applications must be completed online and submitted electronically with all supporting materials by the deadline. The scholarship application is available on the foundation’s website at
GulfCoastCF.org/scholarships.php.
