Nearly 800 people have signed a petition asking the city of North Port to stop pursuing a proposed trash transfer station and environmental business park, which is being eyed for the Toledo Blade Boulevard corridor, according to Tony Treadwell, a Bobcat Trail resident.

Treadwell said the petitions were taken door to door in not only Bobcat Trail, but also in the Lakeside Plantation and Cypress Falls communities.
