DAVIE, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say a South Florida driver struck and killed a bicyclist then continued on a path of reckless driving, sideswiping several vehicles before crashing into an SUV.

Broward Sheriff’s officials said 28-year-old Jose Javier Monserrate-Dural was fleeing a hit and run car accident on Saturday when he struck and killed a bicyclist. Sixty-three year-old Dwight Morrison was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver also fled that accident, sideswiping three vehicles before crashing head-on into a fourth. Deputies said none of the motorists were severely injured. One was transported to the hospital for a minor injury.

Driver Monserrate-Dural was also treated for a minor injury and was transported to jail. Charges are pending.
