NORTH PORT — North Port Drug-Free Youth is swiftly closing in on its 1,700th member since the group’s inception.

Founded in 2010, D-Fy is an organization of middle and high school students who share the commitment to make positive choices and live a healthy, alcohol- and drug-free life. Students validate their commitment through initial and random drug screenings. Once eligible, members receive a D-Fy card that gives them the opportunity to receive discounts at area restaurants and other businesses, and to attend special events. This card gains teens entrance at member-only events and discounts at local businesses and retailers. D-Fy members also enjoy fees waived for Parks and Recreational Facilities. The group is for youth ages up to 19; those younger than 13 require the signature of a parent or guardian.
