Audubon Society announces Christmas
Bird Count

PORT CHARLOTTE — The Audubon Society will hold its annual Christmas Bird Count from Dec. 15
-Jan. 5 to document migratory tendencies of area birds as well as help scientists examine their changing needs for food and nesting habitat.

The Venice Audubon Society, which covers much of southern Sarasota County including North Port, will hold its count on Dec. 16. The Peace River Audubon Society, which covers much of the Charlotte County area, will hold its count on Dec. 15. The Sarasota Audubon Society, which covers the northern Sarasota County, will hold its count Jan. 5, according to Conservation Chair Wade Matthews. He anticipates this year’s bird count to hold steady with that of last year.
