CORAL GABLES — Like other members of the Miami Hurricanes basketball team, guard Rion Brown lobbies his fellow students to attend games, with mixed results.

“We’ve been trying to reach out to them,” Brown said. “Sometimes they say, ‘Is there a game tonight? I didn’t know basketball season started.’”
