PUNTA GORDA — Lemon Bay tried to take advantage of its size to win the county championships Tuesday, but Charlotte’s smaller teams got just enough to sweep at their home pool.

The Charlotte girls won on the last relay, eking out Lemon Bay 415-408 by taking first, third and fifth in the event. The Port Charlotte girls finished with 273 points. The Tarpon boys had more of an advantage, winning with 539 points to Lemon Bay’s 481. The Pirates were third with 87.
