SARASOTA — Unlike those of several other runners Saturday at the Manasota Invitational, Tyler Fisher’s shoes were never in danger of leaving his feet. But Fisher did almost lose a part of his left shoe: the signature of former Port Charlotte star Cody Adkinson.

On a course that left most runners covered in mud, Fisher and teammate Adam Rioux took an even thornier route to avoid a bottleneck in the first mile.
