Habitat for Humanity South Sarasota County is ramping up to build a new affordable-housing cluster — this time in Laurel, across from the Sandra Sims Terry Community Center.

Executive Director Judy Wilcox announced last week a new partnership with Stearns Bank for the purchase of five of its mortgages, providing $230,000 in capital to leverage additional funds for a new community of six homes that will be called Laurel Gardens.
