BRADENTON — Port Charlotte High School’s shutout streak died 18 seconds after the second-half kickoff. Making sure it got out of town with its unblemished record intact was a much more agonizing process.

The Pirates got enough from James Romulus and its defense — and an opportune call on an onside kick with 1:29 to play — to hang on for a 24-22 victory over Bayshore.
