Port Charlotte High School graduate Kierston Smith has been recognized nationally for her volleyball play the first two weeks of the season.

The State College of Florida sophomore setter was named Wednesday as the National Junior College Athletic Association Division I player of the week. She had 250 assists through nine matches.
