SARASOTA COUNTY — Following his failed bid for supervisor of elections in last month’s primary, Sarasota County Commissioner Jon Thaxton has a new job with the Gulf Coast Community Foundation.

The foundation announced late Wednesday that Thaxton, 54, has been hired as director of community investment, effective Monday. Thaxton will work part time until his term as county commissioner ends in mid-November, at which time he will become a full-time staff member. Thaxton has served three, four-year terms on the commission.
