SARASOTA COUNTY — In about a month, the intersection of U.S. 41 and River Road near North Port will start undergoing a massive face-lift.

On Tuesday, Sarasota County commissioners agreed to an $8.7 million contract with Woodruff and Sons Inc. of Bradenton to expand and smooth out the intersection, which features a sharp incline with a drop-off on the South River Road side.
