Throughout the Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections race, Republican incumbent Kathy Dent used her experience as a key part of her campaign.
Republican voters agreed and essentially sent Dent to another four-year term by a 3-1 margin in the Primary Election Tuesday over opponent Jon Thaxton. With 97 of 98 precincts reporting, she received a staggering 74.53 percent of the vote in what was expected to be a close race. Dent had 21,174 votes while Thaxton had just 7,236, or 25.47 percent of the vote.
