Sarasota County's Blind Pass public beach has seaweed scattered along the shoreline. The county started cleaning up seaweed at Lido and Siesta Key public beaches Monday, but had no immediate plans to clean public beaches south of Siesta Key.
For more than a week, onshore winds have been blowing seaweed onto area beaches.
County employees cleaned public portions of Lido and Siesta Key beaches Monday and Tuesday. The county has removed about 200 tons of seaweed from beaches since July 1, according to a press release.
