New name proposed for bridge

A petition drive has been started to rename the Hatchett Creek Bridge the KMI Bridge, in honor of the Kentucky Military Institute, which wintered in Venice for decades. The Venice Centre Mall, center background, known by longtime locals as the KMI Building, is one of the buildings the school used each year.

Local businessman Patrick Keigher is seeking signatures on a petition to Venice City Council to rename the Hatchett Creek Bridge, also known as the North Bridge.
The proposed new name: KMI Bridge.
