On a clear, sunny morning almost 11 years ago, foreign terrorists made the first attacks on the mainland of this country.

In a heavy downpour in Venice’s Patriots Park Tuesday, a group of people gathered to see the ground broken for a memorial to the victims of the Sept. 11 attacks.
