Jon Thaxton, a late entry into the Sarasota County supervisor of elections race, has a lead of more than $65,600 over incumbent Kathy Dent in campaign contributions in the latest reporting period, April 1 through Friday.

The difference is more than four times what Dent has raised so far, campaign finance reports show. The county’s supervisor of elections for more than a decade, Dent also took out a personal loan of more than $16,000 last month to help finance her campaign.
