Thomas Casarella, 81, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, at his home in Port Charlotte.

He was born Sept. 7, 1931, in Avelino, Italy.

Thomas moved to Port Charlotte 34 years ago from Yonkers, N.Y. He was a retired residential construction contractor. Thomas was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, and a former member of the Sons of Italy and Elks Lodge 2153 of Port Charlotte.

He is survived by his loving family, including his wife of 50 years, Carol Casarella of Port Charlotte; daughters, Lisa Casarella of Naples, Fla., and Michelle Cifarelli of Punta Gorda, Fla.; sons, Thomas Casarella of Pompano Beach, Fla., and Michael (Kristie) Casarella of Punta Gorda; and grandchildren, Alyssa Norus, Alexandra Norus, Nick Cifarelli, Korinne Casarella, Stephen Michael Casarella, Gianna Cifarelli, Karlee Casarella and Isabella Cifarelli.

Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, March 4, 2013, at Roberson Funeral Home, Port Charlotte Chapel. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Port Charlotte. Friends may visit online at www.robersonfh.com to sign the guestbook and extend condolences to the family.
