Jay A. “Tom” Ryan, 79, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away Monday, Feb. 18, 2013.

He was born May 21, 1933, in Bronx, N.Y., and moved to this area in July 2009 from Elmwood Park, N.J.

Mr. Ryan was a retired supervisor in the manufacturing industry. He was a member of the Edgewater United Methodist Church in Port Charlotte.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Lois; sons, Steven (Darlene) of North Port, Fla., Kevin (Joann) of Marietta, Ga., and Lawrence (Judith) of Midlothian, Va.; sister, Susan Engle of Marlboro, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Mr. Ryan was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Bolton.

Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, at Edgewater United Methodist Church. Memorial donations may be made to Edgewater United Methodist Church, Building Fund, 19190 Cochran Blvd., Port Charlotte, FL 33948.
