Mary Frances Sullivan
Mary Frances Sullivan, 85, of Punta Gorda, Fla., passed away Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in Lakeland, Fla., of heart and respiratory failure.
Born Dec. 27, 1927, in Bradley Junction, Fla., Mrs. Sullivan was a resident of Polk County, Fla., for many years, moving to Punta Gorda in 1968.
She graduated from Florida State University in 1948. Mrs. Sullivan was a Math and Spanish teacher in the Polk and Charlotte county school systems for over 35 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Punta Gorda.
She is survived by two sons, Robert A (Patty) Sullivan of Winter Park, Fla., and William E. (Angela) Sullivan of Mulberry, Fla.; brother, Ken (Bonnie) Allen of Bartow, Fla.; sister-in-law, Sallie Allen of Jacksonville, Fla.; brother-in-law, Allen (Betty) Hain of Bartow; daughter-in-law, Diana Sullivan of Punta Gorda; brother-in-law, Dr. Jack McDonald of Tallahassee, Fla.; and seven grandchildren, Hunter and Audrey Sullivan of Mulberry, Megan and Casey Sullivan of Winter Park, John and Adam Sullivan of Punta Gorda, and Derek Sullivan of Germanton, N.C. Mrs. Sullivan was preceded in death by her husband, John M. Sullivan Jr.; and son, John M. Sullivan III.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at the funeral home. Condolences to the family can be made at www.whiddenmcleanfuneralhome.com.
