John Dale Moeller
John “Dale” Moeller, 95, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away peacefully at his home Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012.
He was born July 17, 1917, in Lansing, Mich., to Albert and Mayme Moeller.
Dale graduated from Central Michigan University, where he was captain of the 1939 basketball team. After college, he served in the U.S. Army for five years, during World War II, attaining the rank of Captain. In 1946, Dale married Margaret Dodes from Ionia, Mich. He was a sales representative for 28 years, with Doubleday Brothers and company of Kalamazoo, Mich. After retirement, Dale and Margaret moved from their home in Jackson, Mich., to their home in Rotonda, Fla. In 1995, they moved to South Port Square in Port Charlotte. Dale has been a member of the Elks Club, the American Legion, and the Rotonda Golf and Country Club. Dale and Margaret enjoyed golfing, playing bridge and traveling together.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret; son, Tom (Linda) Moeller of Florida; daughter, Janet (Richard) Rathke of Michigan; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Port Charlotte. Memorial donations may be made to Tidewell Hospice Inc, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238.
Arrangements were made in Port Charlotte.
