DESOTO COUNTY — A local pedestrian was hit and killed by an SUV early Saturday morning on U.S. 17, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.

Juliana Erien Delmonte, 16, of Arcadia, was driving southbound on U.S. 17 just past Southwest Fletcher Street at 5:11 a.m., the report shows. Jesus Hernandez, 38, of Arcadia, was walking south on the west paved shoulder of U.S. 17.
