Doyle Thompson, 86, of Punta Gorda Isles, Fla., passed away Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013.

He was the son of Dodge and Evelyn R. (nee Brinkley) Thompson, born Jan. 24, 1927, in Banner Elk, N.C.

Doyle served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He retired in 1991 from “The Weather Channel” as the V.P. of Engineering.

Doyle will be greatly missed by his wife, Betty; daughter, Kathy Andrews; son, Skipper Thompson; grandchildren, J. (Kristy) Andrews and Kelly (Bob) Powers; and great-grandchildren, Grace Andrews, and Orion and Aiden Powers.
