Delia M. Dressler
Delia M. Dressler, 89, of Port Charlotte, Fla., and formerly of Oak Park, Ill., passed away Friday, Jan. 18, 2013.
She was born June 9, 1923, in Savannah, Ga., to Otis R. and Fannie Marshall.
Delia attended Chicago Public Schools and The Chicago Conservatory of Music. Delia Marshall was married March 9, 1945, to Charles Kyle Dressler Jr. Honoring her profession, she was a singer with the Bennett Singers, Austin Methodist Church and The Peoples Church, all of Chicago, Ill. Delia retired to Port Charlotte in 1980 with her husband Charles Kyle Dressler Jr., who preceded her in death Aug. 21, 1992. She was a member of Sigma-Alpha-Iota Sorority, and a former President of the Austin Jr. Women’s Club of Chicago, and the Presbyterian Women’s Club. Delia was active in the Choir and Hand Bells at First Presbyterian Church of Port Charlotte.
She is survived by her loving son, Charles Kyle (Doris) Dressler III of Jasper, Ga.; granddaughters, Kimberly Dressler and Deanna (Shawn) Merry; and seven great-grandchildren.
Delia will be laid to rest next to her husband in a private burial Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at Charlotte Memorial Cemetery in Punta Gorda, Fla. A memorial service will be celebrated at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at First Presbyterian Church of Port Charlotte.

Arrangements are by Charlotte Memorial Funeral Home and Cemetery.
