Marjorie Ann Knapp Barron

Marjorie Ann Knapp Barron, 87, of Punta Gorda, Fla., passed away Monday, Dec. 3, 2012.

She was born in W. Winfield, N.Y., March 10, 1925.

Marjorie graduated from Cornell University in 1946, and earned an MS in Food Science and Nutrition from Florida State University in Tallahassee, Fla. She was employed for many years, by the State of Florida, serving as a dietitian and nutrition consultant for several hospitals and nursing homes. Marjorie was past president of the North Carolina Dietetic Association, and the Florida Dietetic Association at Pensacola Junior College. She traveled extensively throughout the U.S., Africa and Europe. Marjorie’s passions in life were dancing, traveling, college sports, particularly Duke University basketball and Florida State University football, and reading historical and political materials. She was a member of the Burnt Store Presbyterian Church.

Marjorie is survived by two nephews and a niece. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marion Knapp and Geraldine (Smith) Knapp; brother, Robert Knapp; sister, Helen Ingerson and two spouses, Wallace Amero and Frederick Barron.

Interment and private services will be held at a later date at W. Winfield Cemetery in W. Winfield.

Arrangements are by National Cremation Society.
