Don DelGavio typically had to travel to Bay Pines Veterans Hospital in St. Petersburg for the more elaborate parts of his health care needs.

Outpatient Veterans Administration clinics like the one located in Port Charlotte don’t offer all the options that a full-service facility like Bay Pines does, DelGavio said.
