James P. Flavin, 80, of North Port, Fla., formerly of Trenton, N.J., passed away Friday, March 1, 2013, at Venice Regional Medical Center in Venice, Fla.

He was born May 28, 1932, in Trenton, the son of Patrick and Margaret (nee Washliesky) Flavin.

James worked for St. Francis Animal Rescue for 10 years, and was a member of the U.S. Marines and the American Legion.

James is survived by his wife of 35 years, Dorothy. He was preceded in death by his sister, Claire Leonard; and his parents, Patrick and Margaret.

A memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 14, 2013, at Epiphany Cathedral in Venice.
