Olive Louise Rodney

Olive Louise Rodney, 89, of North Port, Fla., passed away at her residence Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013.

She was born Dec. 6, 1923, in Kingston, Jamaica, West Indies, to Charles Johnson and Cassandra Manning Johnson.

Olive came to North Port from California in 1992. She was a member of South Biscayne Baptist Church.

Olive is survived by her five children, Errol Rodney of Lancaster, Ky., Novelette Mills of Queens, N.Y., Denton Rodney of North Port, Claudette Bettis of California, and Philip Rodney of Kingston, Jamaica; three brothers, Egbert Johnson of England, Ernest Johnson of Queens, and Lee Johnson of Jamaica; three sisters, Imogene Johnson of Long Island, N.Y., Joyce Johnson of Jamaica, and Ruby Johnson, also of Jamaica; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the service time at noon Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at South Biscayne Baptist Church. Entombment will follow at Gulf Pines Memorial Park in Englewood, Fla. Please visit the online tribute for Olive Louise Rodney at www.kays-ponger.com.
