Rexford John Morse

Rexford John Morse, 93, of Venice, Fla., passed away Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013.

He was born April 9, 1919, in Homer, N.Y., the son of Byron and Hazel (nee Marble) Morse.

Rexford was a Guidance Director and Principal at Madison-Oneida B.O.C.E.S. in Verona, N.Y. In 2007, he moved to Venice, after living in North Port, Fla., for 30 years. He was a member of: North Port Community United Church of Christ (and also a choir member); the North Port Concert Orchestra; the Venice Concert Band; the North Port Brass Band; the North Port Concert Band; the Port Charlotte Concert Band; the International Horn Society; the Trout Lake, N.Y., Rod & Gun Club; the Trout Lake Campers Association; the North Port Chorale; the North Port Country Club; Phi Delta Kappa; the San Jose State Alumni Association; and the New York State Guidance Association.

Rexford is survived by his daughters, Sally Morse Emerich of Bethlehem, Pa., and Laurie Morse of Glencoe, Ill.; and son, Roger B. Morse of Key West, Fla. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Nancy Morse Howard, in January 2002; his parents; and his wife, Shirley C. Morse.

Arrangements are by Ewing Funeral Home, Venice.
