Diane L. Skene
Diane L. Skene, 64, of North Port, Fla., went home to be with her Lord and Savior Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, after a long battle with cancer.
She was born Dec. 5, 1947, in Philadelphia, Pa., to James Duncan and Eileen Hannah Skene.
Diane retired to North Port in 2009, where she enjoyed the many activities, clubs and her wonderful neighbors while living at Harbor Cove Retirement Community. She enjoyed and celebrated her Scottish ancestry as a member of the St. Andrews Society of Sarasota, Fla., and served proudly as the Florida Commissioner of clan Skene, where she traveled throughout the U.S. and abroad attending Highland Games.
Diane is survived by her daughters, Deanalyn (Yukihisa Kitami) Reing, Penelope E. Reing and Jennifer J. (David L.) Reing Hackney; stepdaughter, Teresa A. (Richard Jr.) Matthews-Peebles; grandchildren, Zachary R. Houser, Samantha K. Hackney-Rodriquez, Kayla M. Pebbles, Joshua A. Kratzer, Sarah G. Kratzer, Nathanael E. Hackney and Caleb J. Reing; great-grandchild, Christopher M. Hoff; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and dear friend and companion, Richard Jacox, who stood by her side throughout her illness.
A Scottish Celebration of Life will be held from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, at the Harbor Cove Retirement Community Hospitality Room. All are Welcome to come to help us celebrate Mom’s life and enjoy a special tribute to her Scottish heritage with live Bagpiper music.
