SARASOTA COUNTY — Along with a 3.25 percent raise for teachers, administrators and other classified personnel, the Sarasota County School Board this week approved more than $10 million in longevity pay for both teachers and staff.
Scott Ferguson, school district spokesman, said longevity payments for all employees in fiscal year 2013-2014 — which is retroactive to July 1 and runs through June 30, 2014 — is calculated at $10,020,451.31, and will be paid out to 2,948 employees. Longevity payments will be divided by 24 and added to the regular salary amount in employee paychecks.
