Food, fun and sun at seafood fest

Mermaids, pirates, seafood, art, more food, entertainment and even crab races all were part of the annual Placida Rotary Seafood Festival that opened on Saturday and will continue today on the grounds of the Fishery in Placida. PLACIDA — For five years, Miranda Ross of Rotonda West has been coming to the Placida Rotary Club’s Seafood Festival and other events on the grounds of the Fishery in Placida.
Sometimes, she said, she comes to shop. As the festival kicked off Saturday morning — it continues starting at 10 a.m. today — she was looking over the offerings of dozens of vendors.
