Venice woman is ‘Big Sister of the Year’ for Florida

VENICE — Big Brothers Big Sisters recently named its Big Sister of the Year for Florida for 2013, and she is Venice’s Sara Peterson.
Peterson has formed an amazing lifelong friendship with her “Little,” Cassie Machanska, for the past nine years, going above and beyond in everything she does, whether she is spending time with Cassie or advocating for Big Brothers Big Sisters in the community. More importantly, she made a commitment to change a young person’s life.
