Boil water notice rescinded in North Port
NORTH PORT — Water is now safe for North Port Utilities customers in the area between Ortiz Boulevard to River Road, along U.S. 41.
The city of North Port reports that results from water sampling efforts were satisfactory and thus the precautionary boil water notice for customers issued Thursday in this area, including residents of Harbor Cove, Harbor Isles, La Casa, Lazy River, Riverwalk and Myakka RV Park, has been canceled. A 16-inch water main break resulted in a loss of pressure in the line, and although repairs were made quickly, customers in the affected area were advised to take precautionary steps in using water. About 3,000 homes were affected. Laboratory results received Saturday indicate the water supply is safe, and citizens no longer need to boil water.
