SARASOTA COUNTY — The county has been named a second-time winner of the America’s Promise Alliance’s 100 Best Communities for Young People award. Sarasota County was one of many communities selected to receive the national recognition.

The award is based on outstanding and innovative work in addressing the high school dropout crisis and for the programs and services offered across the community that make the county an outstanding place for youth to live, learn and grow. A community celebration is planned to recognize the designation from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. Thursday at the Girl Scout Gulfcoast Event and Conference Center, 4740 Cattlemen Road, Sarasota.
