‘An Inspector Calls’ — A Play for all Seasons

“Are we responsible for each other? Or do we live in our own cocoons, unaware or uncaring about the plight of others?” Paul Powers, who acts as the Inspector in Lemon Bay Playhouse’s latest production, “An Inspector Calls,” invites us all to ponder the question for ourselves.
Powers, a psychologist, hasn’t acted in a play since college, but he became fascinated with J.B. Priestley’s play about social injustice and family dynamics. In his words “The play is as relevant today as it was when it was first performed in 1945.” The director of “An Inspector Calls,” Doreen Barnett, describes the play in much the same way. “It’s an ‘actorly’ play, one that brings every single bit of the actor to the role,” she explains.
