John L. Seibel

John L. Seibel, 89, of Venice, Fla., passed away Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, following a brief illness.

He was born Sept. 18, 1923, in Sandusky, Ohio, to John W. Seibel and Leah (nee Heeter) Seibel Hewitt.

John graduated in 1941 from Sandusky High School. He served as a pharmacist’s mate in the Pacific Theatre, in the U.S. Navy, during World War II. John was employed in banking and finance for most of his career, most recently as President of Firelands Community Bank in Huron, Ohio. He retired in 1986, as Executive Director of the Firelands Chapter of the American Red Cross. John relocated to Englewood after retirement, later moving to Venice, Fla.

He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Patricia (nee Duke) Seibel; daughters, Barbara Seibel, Englewood, Mary (Robert) Risdon, Vermilion, Ohio, Kathryn (Marvin) Kaplan, Sarasota, Fla.; sons, John F. (Kristinne) Seibel, Marion, Ohio, and Robert (Martha) Seibel; brother, Ralph (Martha) Seibel, West Chester, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Jean (Foster) Seibel; grandson, Robert Seibel; and sister, Irene Johannsen.
