William W. Remmey
William W. Remmey, 87, of Englewood, Fla., passed away, Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013.
He was born Nov. 20, 1926, in Philadelphia, Pa.
After graduating from Penn Charter School Class of 1944, he enlisted in U.S. Army. He was with the first occupation troops in Japan until 1946. William entered the University of Pennsylvania, then joined the firm of R.C. Remmey Refractories Co. and then later A.P. Green. He married Nancy Frost of Holmesburg, Pa., Jan. 20, 1951, at Emmanuel Episcopal Church. Bill was a member of Torresdale-Frankford Country Club, Atlantic City C.C., Seaview C.C. Yacht Club of Ocean City, N.J., Quaker City Gun Club, Atlantic Indians Trapshooting Organization, Seabrook Island Club S.C., Boca Royal, Englewood. He was proud of winning “The Horse” at Atlantic Indians and the State Senior Veterans Trapshooting Title in South Carolina. William was awarded his 100 Straight Pin at the Grand American in Vandalia, Ohio. His other interests included hunting, fishing, golf and tennis. He was a volunteer at Habitat for Humanity on Johns Island, S.C.
William was a proud father of two, Doren Connors of Randor, Pa., and Bill Jr. of Bensalem, Pa.; seven grandchildren, Jamie Remmey, Stephanie Bissol, Tracy Connors, Caitlin Loman, James Connors, Samantha Remmey, Heather Remmey; four great-grandchildren, Joseph Bissol III, Megan Bissol, Olivia Bissol and Colin Gentile; two brothers, John G. Remmey Jr. of Pittsgrove, N.J., and Frank W. Remmey, of Doylestown, Pa.
A service will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at Boca Royale, with a luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, please send a contribution to Mustang Scholarship Valley Forge Military Academy, Wayne, PA 19087.
