Marjorie J. “Marge” Newell, 81, of Englewood, Fla., died peacefully at the TideWell Hospice House, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Aug. 3, 1931.

Marge graduated from Malden High School in Malden, Mass., in 1948; and was a resident of Tewksbury, Mass., and worked at Tewksbury State Hospital. She retired to Englewood in 1985. Marge was married Jan. 27, 1951, to Linwood “Lindy.” She was president of the Englewood Does in 1998; and an active member of the Lemon Bay Woman’s Club for 20-plus years. She enjoyed all crafts, quilting, needlework, sewing, square-dancing and dressmaking.

Marge is survived by her husband, Linwood “Lindy” Newell, retired to Florida in 1985 from Tewksbury; sons, Scott (Beth) of Ormond Beach, Fla., and Glen (Lisa) of Lowell, Mass.; daughter, Lynne Anne of Ormond Beach; grandchildren, Michelle Beecher of Windham, N.H., Laryssa Newell of Austin, Texas, Kristen (Eric) Davidson of Palm Coast, Fla., and Katie Newell of Derry, N.H.; step-grandchildren, Brian Hogan of Pelham, N.H. and Jeremy Hogan of Lowell; and great-grandchildren, Brandon Beecher, Holly Beecher, Tyler Davidson, Emilie Davidson and Brenden Cunningham.

A special thank-you to Barbara Stubblefield and all the Tidewell Hospice Staff.

There will be a memorial service at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at the Englewood Elks, 401 N. Indiana Ave., Englewood. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Tidewell Hospice and the American Cancer Society.

Arrangements are by Lemon Bay Funeral Home.
